About the Tea

The Manuka Plant: Nature’s Treasure

The Manuka plant, also known as the New Zealand tea tree (Leptospermum scoparium), has been renowned since its discovery by Captain Cook. This versatile plant grows naturally as a shrub or tree in New Zealand and Australia and is celebrated for its resilience, thriving on slopes, riverbanks, forest edges, and in shrubland. Its small, numerous flowers, which bloom in white or light pink, contribute to its diverse uses. The flowers produce honey, while the bark and leaves can be brewed into tea, and various parts of the plant yield valuable essential oils.

Our JD Manuka tea is said to promote sleep, strengthen the immune system and has many other valuable properties. But most importantly: we believe it simply makes you happy.

As with many herbal and green teas, Manuka tea only develops its flavour and aroma after the second infusion. However, the leaves are so rich that you can brew it 10 to 12 times!!!! It is fantastic. You can use a small portion of tea for days.
We (and the tea producers) recommend pouring hot water at about 90 degrees over the tea and letting it infuse for 6-8 minutes at a time.

Premium Authentic Manuka Honey
JD Manuka Tea

309 HONEY is made in Coromandel, New Zealand: Picture golden sand and beautiful Pōhutukawa trees. It is named after The 309 Road which connects the peninsula's eastern and western seaboards.
It all started 20 years ago when the owners bought 60 acres of land on the 309 Road. The property came with 150 beehives. Over the years the business has grown, but their philosophy remains the same; producing the best honey they can:

"All of our honeys are raw, unpasteurized and coarse filtered. We don’t add any bad stuff and we don’t take away any good stuff. Simple.
We hope you enjoy it."

JD stands for Jonas + Drechsler: Jonas is an old friend who imports the tea exclusively to Germany. Drechsler is the producer of the tea. You can only buy this Manuka tea from us in Europe.
